The Grieving Process after Leaving the Cult
by cantleave ini really want my wife to see that we have spent our wholes lives in a lie, a lie promoted by mind controlling cult, but i have a problem and this is it........ my wife was extremely close to her grandmother, she lived with her in her teens and loved her to bits.
when her grandmother died, 5 years ago, my wife was devestated, the only thing that allowed her to combat the grief was the hope of the ressurection, being able to see her grandmother again in the new system.. it is in my opinion, this hope that keeps her going in the "truth".
if the she leaves the truth i am sure, that like me she will not fall back on any other religion, she will probably become more humanist and agnostic if not atheist.. this realisation will mean that she will never see her grandmother again.

Because I believe that all grief is retrospective anyway, I doubt that your wife would be wholly lost to the process of re-grieving her lost grandmother.
I'm not saying she won't, but I doubt it will be as traumatic as you seem to fear. I think it is a good idea to let your wife process and wake up in her own time, and not project too much about how hard this or that will be.
Things you expect to be problematic might be a cinch, while the issues that did not cross your mind might prove to be the most difficult -- like getting wife to wake up in the first place.
I hope it all works out for you!

It's like stepping off a cliff only because the lions are bearing down and there's nowhere to go.
I agree that it can feel that way, hybridous, esp. if you don't have enough emotional support, etc., but the Witnesses want us to believe that it will always be that way and reassure themselves that we will fail, fail, fail on the outside, and if we buy into it, we will.
Unfortunately, many of us born-ins go out into a world where we are socially retarded because of the borg's isolation, so it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.
All around, being born in sucks a$$.

I am a 3rd gen, born-in, but my parents weren't baptized til their mid-20s, and my mother converted, so I totally agree about the ego thing, Tuesday.
Mom could not own being wrong about ANYthing, so if it ever occurred to her to doubt, she'd eventually shove it away somewhere.
My dad was baptized after living a worldly life and after his mom converted in the late 60's - early 70's, so it's weird to say 3rd generation, I guess, since they all had their conversions somewhat late in life, and probably (I think) within the same 10-year time frame. None of them had to grow up in the shit like I did.
; I don't know when my grandma was dunked, but I think she was in her 40's or 50's.
In any event their egos were mightily invested in that conversion, with its complete submission to the Jehobo crapolo.

DNCall Unmasked - Part 4 of 5
by DNCall instartfragment.
even though i didnt have the title of elder, i was still active in my work at bethel and the congregation used me as much as possible.
when the congregation recommended that i once again serve as an elder, one elder raised the objection that that barbara was a low-hour publisher.

When will they realise that the bus isn't coming?
by eyeslice ini was still a kid and living at home at the time, and so that must have been well over 30 years ago, that i heard ron drage (now a senior member of the uk bethel) say "if you are waiting at the bus stop it, is better to be 10 minutes early rather than miss it".
what he was referring to of course was the then then 1975 issue; in other words armageddon has arrived yet but it just round the corner and we are a little early for it.. i don't know what brought this to my mind the other day but i got to thinking, surely if you are waiting for a bus and you get there 10 minutes early and it doesn't then turn up, how long do you wait?
10 minutes, 15 minutes, half an hour, an hour, two hours?

'The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
Reniaa
Well, the lord seems pretty dang slow at figuring out that a JW like you is on the internet trying to do his bidding for him.
Since when are "his people" permitted to make use of the demonic internet, and since when are they allowed to visit "apostate" sites like this one?
You go repent, Ren.
Repent for getting on the bus and for being a judgmental hypocritical rider.

As long as their meat served at the proper time keeps coming to them at the bus stop, they'll just stay right there, even though the meat's smelling a little tainted, engorging themselves with the borg's tripe til they croak out without noticing they missed armageddon.

perhaps it depends upon whether or not the converts who joined later in life and did not have families in the borg lost their respective family ties as a result of joining, and could not get them back even after leaving the borg.
My feeling though, is that generally, being born in, you're almost guaranteed to lose your family and not get them back if you try to leave. You can check out, but you can never leave (with a family intact).
